Fishing In The Lake
Good
White Bass - The whites are coming into the rocks. Mepps or Panther Martins combined with a curly tail or tube jig have been working well along the shorelines. If fishing from a boat some are still using Slab spoons, Little Georges or Cicada's rigged with curly tails or hair jigs.
Very Good
Catfish - A lot of catfish are being caught in the lake. Drifting with shrimp or shad has been working great. If fishing from the bank, fish the bottoms now with some Sonny's, Geno's, cut bait, or crawlers. Trot lines are still doing well.
Good
Crappie - Getting some good reports on Crappie, varied depths but they are now starting to come into the shallow areas with the cooler weather. Try fishing the brush around Allen Branch or Peppenhorst. They seem to be liking minnows over jigs right now.
Good
Walleye/Sauger - Seeing quite a few being caught around the silo areas. Ideal set ups are Wally Divers, Bandits or Bombers combined with curly tails or hair jigs.
Fishing In The Spillway
Excellent
White Bass - Still catching alot of whites along the rocks at the spillway. Rooster tails, with a tube jig or curly tail on top are the preferred set up.
Very Good
Crappie - Crappie are very good in the river right now. The cool weather seems to have really turned them on. Minnows seem to be the bait of choice right now.
Very Good
Catfish - Some nice catfish are being caught in the river on Sonny's and Geno's.
Good
Bluegill - Some bluegill are being caught on wax worms.
Good
Sauger - The area between the dam and the suspension bridge is the best place to pick up on some Sauger or Walleye. Things have picked up some since the water is over the rocks now. Some are doing well with Large minnows, other are using the old reliable 3 or 4" curly tail tipped with a medium minnow or nightcrawler.
